Dear Parents,
Some reminders.
1) Pupils will sit for Phonics test and Performance Task in Week 7.
Language review and topical review will be in Week 8. For details on topics to be tested, do refer to the Term 2 Assessment Plan.
As such, do get your child to revise his/her work.
2) The topic for Show and Tell in Week 9 is My Favourite Toy. You can help your child to plan for the topic. I have given them a list of helping questions. On the day of Show and Tell, pupil will bring along a toy or a picture of the toy.
Regards,
Mrs Lee

General feedback
Dear Parents,
Some feedback. Pupils are generally weaker in subtraction and word problems.
Some pupils cannot correctly work out routine questions such as 15-8 or 14-7. As pupils have not learnt regrouping yet, they can only rely on counting backwards or make 10 (in textbook) to solve the questions.
Eg
15-8=?
10 and 5 make 15.
10-8=2
So 2 and 5 make 7.
15-8=7
Some pupils do find this difficult. So, I will ask them to count backwards.
As for word problems, pupils have difficulty comprehending the questions and they are unable to differentiate if they are looking for the part or whole. Sometimes, they have the correct method but they make careless mistake in the final answer.
I have given them an extra set of Maths worksheet on word problem for them to practise over the weekend. They will also receive another set of Maths worksheet for next weekend. Do help your child to revise the subtraction concept and word problem.
Thanks,
Mrs Lee
